Critical Incident Stress Debriefer
As a qualified Critical Incident Stress Debriefer (CISD) and trauma-informed psychotherapist, I provide structured post-incident support to teams and organisations following distressing or high-impact events. My approach helps reduce the risk of psychological harm, supports resilience, and promotes recovery after exposure to trauma in the workplace.
CISD is a structured, evidence-based process that allows individuals to explore their experiences, understand their emotional responses, and restore a sense of normality after a critical event. It is not therapy, but a facilitated space where staff can share, reflect, and regain perspective in a psychologically safe environment.
I have over a decade of experience working within the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and other high-pressure public service environments. This includes responding to incidents involving sudden loss, public scrutiny, and operational trauma. I am also a qualified TRiM (Trauma Risk Management) practitioner and Clinical Supervisor, providing reflective practice and trauma-informed support to professionals working in complex roles.
Each debrief is conducted with sensitivity, confidentiality, and respect for individual differences. I am experienced in supporting multi-disciplinary teams, first responders, and investigators, and I make reasonable adjustments for neurodiverse participants where required to ensure sessions are inclusive and accessible.
CISD Support Options
• In-person, online, or on-site delivery depending on organisational needs
• Group or individual debriefs available
• Follow-up reflective sessions to monitor ongoing wellbeing
• One-off incident response or longer-term wellbeing partnerships
If your organisation has experienced a distressing or critical event, I can offer structured CISD support to help your team process, recover, and continue their work with clarity and care.
